Landscape

Landscape here does not mean one thing. The collection falls into three clear groups: flat, graphic desert scenes in pink and terracotta; vintage-toned coastal views with the faded color and worn edges of an old print; and retro travel posters of canyon country — plus a small set of misty tree scenes at dawn and dusk. They share a sense of distance and not much else.

What they have in common is that they read as a window rather than a statement. A view gives a wall depth without competing with the furniture or the color scheme already in the room, which is why landscape is among the easiest art to live with.

Where it works best

Living rooms, offices and hallways are the easiest fit, especially where you want a sense of depth. The desert and canyon pieces are graphic enough to sit beside modern furniture; the faded coastal scenes lean traditional and go well with wood and brass. Give any of them a little empty wall on either side.

Sizing for the space

A single large piece works well as the main picture in a living room or office. Pairs and small groupings suit a hallway or stairwell, and several pieces here are near-siblings that pair obviously — the notes under each one point them out. We size every piece to the room in the mockup, so what you see is close to true scale once printed.

Color pairing

Three palettes, not one: warm pink and terracotta across the desert scenes, soft sepia and gold across the coastal ones, and red rock against teal water in the canyon posters. The misty tree scenes sit apart in soft pink, blue and fog grey, and go with almost anything pale. Mixing across those groups rarely works. Pick the group that matches your room and choose within it.

Several pieces in this style are near-siblings, and the difference between them usually comes down to one detail. Among the desert scenes, the question is whether there are two suns or one, and whether the sun is rising or setting — the terrain barely changes. Among the faded coastal views, it comes down to whether a sea stack sits on the horizon and whether anyone is on the beach.

The canyon posters divide by viewpoint rather than by place: some look out from the rim across open distance, others look down into a narrow gorge. That choice decides how a room feels more than the color does.

If two still feel interchangeable, let the wall decide. A pale piece keeps its shape on a dark wall; a dark one needs light on it to be seen at all.

Landscape art rewards a bit of restraint around it. Simple frames, natural materials, and some empty wall on either side let the view do the work. A single piece often has more impact than a tight grouping.

If you're placing it above furniture, leave roughly six to eight inches between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame, and hang it so the centre of the picture sits close to eye level.

The newest views sit among the collection above rather than in a group of their own — canyon country, faded coastlines, desert scenes and a few misty tree scenes, folded in with the rest.
